CAHS TAKES REMATCH WITH ED COMPLEX, 46-28

In what was deemed a rematch of a tournament held earlier this school year, Charlotte Amalie captured the championship of the Knight Quality Stations Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Tournament Monday at the UVI Sports and Fitness Center. The Lady Chicken Hawks proved to be too tough for the Lady Barracudas of the Educational Complex, defeating them 46-28.
The Lady Chicken Hawks used a full court press that prevented the Lady Barracudas from even getting the ball pass halfcourt. The stifling defense held the Lady Barracudas to just 2 points in the first quarter.
The Lady Chicken Hawks defense fueled their offense. Due to the press the Lady Chicken Hawks were able to get easy baskets. At the half, the Lady Chicken Hawks had a 19-point led, 27-8.
In the second half the Lady Barracudas gave their public school counterparts a little bit of their own medicine. They used a full court press of their own to assist them in their efforts to get back into the game. Educational Complex coach Derrick Miller noted that his team "played flat in the first half."
The Lady Chicken Hawks continued their press on the Lady Barracudas. Both teams scored 10 points in the third quarter, and the Lady Chicken Hawks still had a 19 point led, 37-18.
The Lady Chicken Hawks cruised the fourth quarter from the victory. The tournament's most valuable player, Tracy Browne led CAHS with 14 points and her teammate Janelle Sarauw grabbed 12 rebounds.
In the other girls' game, Ivanna Eudora Kean High School edged Central High School, 27-26 for the third place title. Jennifer Rogers led the Lady Devil Rays with 10 points.
