I doubt that many people in the USVI had any trouble seeing that former Gov. Schneider was deeply ensconced in Jeffrey Prosser's ICC hip pocket. With Gov. Turnbull's veto of Sen. Donastorg's bill requiring an investigation of Vitelco rates and practices, one is clearly led to believe that Turnbull has now replaced Schneider in that cozy spot with HIS nose up Prosser's hip pocket. He can easily prove that impression wrong…All he has to do, if his only concern is a separation of powers issue, is to make an executive decision to initiate the investigation.
If he is unable to get the IDC to begin an investigation, then he negates the separation of powers issue, because if he can't influence the IDC then one must assume that the IDC is not really a part of the executive branch. At any rate, the Governor is not serving the best interests of the people of the Virgin Islands.
On a related matter, another big BOO to former Sen. Redfield, often referred to as Prosser's chief apologist. While in the Senate, he at least gave the impression that he was an "every man" type of legislator with the best interest of the "people" at heart. Now it seems he has adopted the attitude of "every man for himself," with his own best interests clearly most important to him. I guess that making $65,000 per year doing the peoples' business pales in comparison to making $???,??? doing Prosser's business.
Finally, keep up the good effort Sen. Donastorg. Perhaps there is some way for the Federal Government to be brought into this shameful, blatant issue (perhaps the FCC?) if the Governor won't do the job he was elected to do.
