HARPER AND HARPER TAKE BEACH RELAY RUN

The Annual Coastweeks Beach Relay saw two teams run this year with husband and wife Theresa and John Harper taking the honors with a combined time of 32 minutes and 43 seconds for the 2 x 2 mile relay on one of St Croix's most beautiful beaches.
Marie Elise Witmer and Cathy Prince took second in 42 minutes and 26 seconds. Following the race, participants picked up trash on the beach. It was noted that this year was the cleanest that the beach has been for some time, only a few bags were filled. The project is associated with the International Costal Clean-up Project, coordinated by the Center for Marine Conservation and in cooperation with the V.I. Marine Advisory Service. The event is organized by the Virgin Islands Pace Runners
The next event on the V.I. Pace schedule is the Annual West Indies Lab 5 Mile Road Race at 6 a.m., Oct. 21. It starts on the East End Road at the former West Indies Lab across from The St. Croix Yacht Club.
