MOBILE VENDORS HOSTS CONCERT

The Mobile Food Vendors Association put together its first event Saturday night in Emancipation Garden, a modest roundup of a half-dozen vendors with jazz supplied by RC and Company. About150 people listened as the band filled the air with relaxing tunes.
The concert, which was free to the public, was a benefit to enable members of the association to get liability insurance for their businesses.
Lucky 13 Radio personality Ms. J introduced the band and dispensed lots of jazz trivia. There were five mobile food vendors including the Mitch Mobil, Flamon’s Grilled Chiken and Turkey and Save the Chili "Snacks." Both West Indian and American food was available.
George and Brenda Mathenson, visiting from San Antonio, Texas, said they were surprised to see so many jazz enthusiasts on St. Thomas. "We've been here for eight days and have seen a number of calypso bands, so it's refreshing to hear some jazz," Brenda Mathenson said. The festival’s sponsors, Remy Martin, Ponche Kuba and Mount Gay, had a tent set up where beverages were served.
