HEALTH CONFERENCE SET FOR TUESDAY

The third annual Virgin Islands State Health Insurance Assistance Program (VI SHIP) conference for senior citizens and retirees will be held Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Gertrude's Restaurant.
The conference, announced by Lt. Gov. Gerard Luz James 11, titled "Managing and Accessing Quality Health Care Services in the V.I.," is open to the public and there is no charge.
The aim of the session is to provide information on patient's rights, responsibilities, self-advocacy, understanding health care insurance regulations and improving the patient-physician relationship. It is an opportunity for older people to understand their health care options.
The program is federally funded, and is under the auspices of the Office of the Lt. Governor. "Consumers of health care services . . .must realize they, too, have a very important role to play in order to receive accountable, quality health care service," said James in urging the older population to attend.
Seating arrangements for the conference are limited. To register, call (340) 778-1245, 772-7368 or 778-6311, ext. 2338.
