SAFETY ZONE AUCTION TO BE OF ART AND LOTS MORE

"Art, Style, Design" is the theme of the Safety Zone's second annual Art Auction, set for Saturday, Feb. 19, at the Westin Resort. The poster, featuring a painting of a contented couple by St. John artist M. Lisa Etre, is touting the fund raiser as "the first big party of the millennium."
The Safety Zone is St. John's not-for-profit agency providing counseling, emergency shelter and other services to victims of domestic abuse and other violence.
The fund raiser will feature both out-loud and silent auctions of fine art, jewelry, furniture items and premium wines, with cash, checks and charge cards accepted. The evening will get under way at 6 p.m. with cocktails and a preview of the goods going on the block. The live auction will follow dinner at 8. There will be music by Carl Powell and Margo Diaz of the St. John jazz ensemble "B" Sharp.
Tickets are $75, with tables for 10 priced at $700. The Westin is offering rooms for the night at a special price of $99, double occupancy. Tickets are being sold on St. John at the Safety Zone office, Connections, The DrugCenter and the Westin front desk. They're available on St. Thomas as the Color of Joy, Education Station and Jonna White Gallery.
For table and/or room reservations, call the Westin's Todd Hunter at 693-8000, ext. 1901. To obtain the special rate, rooms must booked by Feb. 1. For more information about the event or the Safety Zone, call 693-7233.
