Not to diminish the excitement over the millineum celebration but as any geographer can tell you, the State of Alaska straddles 180 degrees longitude from Greenwich (0 degrees). 12:01 A.M. on January 1, 2000 will occur many hours before it does at Point Udall. Alaska is not only the furthest north state, but also the furthest west and EAST!!
