ST. CROIX CURFEW, PRICE FREEZE ARE OVER

Gov. Charles W. Turnbull announced Friday that the curfew for St. Croix has been lifted, as has the price freeze, both of which were in place as a result of Hurricane Lenny.
The governor cited 85 percent restoration of power on the island as the basis for his decision to end the curfew.
"The paramount consideration for putting the curfew in place was safety," he said. Police Commissioner Franz Christian "has assured me that public safety can be maintained with 85 percent of St. Croix energized."
He said he lifted the price freeze after conferring with Licensing and Consumer Affairs Commissioner Andrew Rutnik.
