FOUR ARRESTED ON WEAPONS CHARGES

Four Estate Contant men are in police custody following arrests on weapons possession charges after they were stopped on Back Street by a police special operations unit.
The four were riding in a white Nissan sedan when officers of the "Cobra Unit," a tactical arm of the VIPD Special Operations Bureau, stopped the vehicle.
Acting Police Chief Jose Garcia said in a press statement that while speaking with the occupants of the car, "officers smelled a strong scent of marijuana." The officers noted a blue canvas bag under the front passenger seat and subsequently uncovered a chrome 9mm handgun with eight live rounds of ammunition, cut-out ski masks, gloves and cigarette rolling papers, he said.
The four men were taken into custody and charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and of a weapon with an obliterated serial number.
Police identified the men as Jason Roberts, 22, the driver, of Contant 6-26; Jeffrey Roberts, 21, of the same address; Kahli Ubiles, 20, of Contant Knolls 10-C; and Albert Douglas, 20 of Contant Knolls 3-C.
When the four appeared for an advice-of-rights hearing in Territorial Court on Friday, bond for each was set at $50,000. The court denied Ubiles’ request to be released upon posting 10 percent bail.
