The Boys and Girls Club of St. Croix and Generation Now! Inc. will host a Molding Adolescent Development Skills Mentoring Program “Girls Edition," this spring for girls ages 11-14, according to Generation Now.
The 8-week life skills training program will begin March 24 and continue through May 12 at the Boys and Girls Club of St. Croix in Christiansted
Generation Now! introduced the mentoring program six years ago now and has mentored about 250 boys between the ages of 9 through 17. The program has received rave reviews from parents, former participants and the community, according to Generation Now.
This is the first “Girls Edition,” and it promises to be one filled with enrichment information and fun. The purpose of a girls-only session is to bring awareness in the different topics that will better prepare them to face the challenges that young females are encountering during these troubled times, according to Generation Now.
The Mentoring Program “Girls Edition” will provide a curriculum that includes health, hygiene, sex education, culinary arts, volunteerism, community service and career exploration. Participants will be provided with the necessary materials as well as refreshments.
Generation Now! is a group of concerned, professional young Virgin Islanders who are focused on making a difference in this community.
The training program will run from 9 a.m. to noon on consecutive Saturdays.
Registration is now open. For more information, contact Adrienne Williams, president of Generation Now, at 643-1710 or Lynn Hunt, chair of Planning and Development at 226-9461.
