Teen Wounded by Gunshot

A 16-year-old St. Croix minor was wounded by gunfire Saturday afternoon in mid-island, the Virgin Islands Police Department reported.

According to police, at about 1 p.m. Saturday, the boy was injured by a gunshot to his left inner thigh. He told police he was near the garbage transfer station in Estate Mon Bijou when an unknown person in a black vehicle drove by and fired shots. One struck the boy in the leg.

The minor was transported to the Gov. Juan Luis F. Hospital for treatment. Detectives from the Juvenile Bureau are following up on this case, the police said.
