Alfred Austin Clarke Dies

Alfred Austin Clarke

Alfred Austin Clarke, affectionately known as “Austin” or “Mr. Clarke,” died on April 23 at his residence.

Alfred was preceded in death by his parents: Harry and Etty Clarke; wife, Thelma Estelle Clarke; son, Franklin Maynard, sisters: Ruth Morton, Ivy Davis, and Sylvia White: brothers: Ezekiel and Vincent Clarke; niece, Barbara Davis; and brother-in-law, Bolin Liburd.

He is survived by his daughters: Diane Richards, Delores Clarke, Valerie Daley and Oretha Fredericks; sons: David, Alford, Wingrove, Michael, Elvin and Leroy Clarke; and stepson, Errol Liburd; grandchildren: Calvin Liburd, De’Andra Richards, Kaleem and K’Niqua Fredericks, Natasha, Winnae, Kavian, Kaviah, Kiarah, Michelle and Michael Clarke Jr.; and great-grandchildren: Ja’Kylah Walwyn, Rae’Nyah Miller, Marques Burton, Kirt Laroche Jr., Skyla Fahie, Calliyah, Anesa, Sahai Liburd.

He is also survived by adopted children: Charmaine Baptiste Joseph, Vincent Mondesire, Averil Herbert; adopted grandchildren: Dyrecia, Cyrecia, and Trishelle Wilson; sons-in-law: Kelvin Fredericks and Everette Richards; grand-daughter-in-law, Gisnel Librud; nieces: Verna Henderson, Ileta Paul, Coreen Hull, Theresa Liburd Andrews, Sharon and Sandra Davis, Janice, Carmen, Naomi, Lorna and Arona Clarke; and nephews: Anthony Liburd, Vernon Elliott, Larry and Warren Davis, Denis, Paul and Winston Clarke.

Other survivors include brothers-in-law: Emmanuel Liburd, Stedroy Sutton and Anthony Morton; sisters-in-law: Chermil Morton, Stephanie Sutton and Viola Clarke; special friends: Gertrude Bramble, Nelson Hull (aka Joe Jack), Sonia Herbert, Sheila Wilson, Aretha Liburd, Sylvia Monticeus, Stacy Clarke, the Elliott family and the Miller family; as well as many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

The first viewing will be held from 4-6 p.m., Friday, May 31, at Turnbull’s Funeral Home.

The second viewing will be held from 9-10 a.m. followed by a celebration of life and homegoing service at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 1, at Wesley Methodist Church. The burial will be at Eastern Cemetery, Smith Bay.
