St. Croix Animal Welfare Center Hopes to Raise $50,000 With Pledge-a-Thon

St. Croix Animal Welfare Center

On May 24, the St. Croix Animal Welfare Center is going live from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. across the internet and over the radio. The goal is to raise $50,000 for the animals of St. Croix. “Going Live to Save Lives” is a multi-media event that will be live-streaming on Facebook, the VIYA app, the Virgin Island Source’s website and social media pages, and it will be simulcast on 104.9 The Mongoose WMNG and WSTX AM 970. The Tattooed Traveler will also stream “Going Live to Save Lives” on their website and social media account. The whole community is pitching in to support the animals of St. Croix!

“Going Live to Save Lives” will be a seven-hour event, including live music by Michondé, Adrian Rogers and a surprise DJ performance. There will be a St. Croix Animal Welfare Center Flea Market fashion show produced in part by JG Management LLC USVI, a meet and greet the shelter pets, staff interviews and more. At lunchtime, the center is inviting the public to come in person to The St. Croix Animal Welfare Center’s Flea Market location to grab a dog from Wayne’s Wiener Wagon and a “cocktail for a cause” from their friends at Mutiny Island Vodka.

This event will be hosted by Becca Hughson of “Waggin’ Wednesday” on 104.9 The Mongoose FM, Kevin Jackson of “The Big Phat Morning Show” on Isle 95, and former Mythbuster Brian Louden.

The St. Croix Animal Welfare Center has been operating under critical animal capacity for over a year. It only receives 8% of its annual income from the USVI government, and it depends on donations from the public and income from its low-cost community clinic to care for the unwanted pets of St. Croix.

“The Going Live to Save Lives” pledge-a-thon is a vital fundraiser to help the center keep its doors open. Donations can be made throughout the event on Facebook and on the center’s website: https://stcroixawc.org/donate.

If anyone is interested in sponsoring this event, donating toward this event or volunteering during this event, please email Becca Hughson, director of public relations and marketing at marketing@stcroixawc.org. If looking for another way to help, please share the “Going Live to Save Lives” livestream on your Facebook page on May 24 or create a Facebook fundraiser for The St. Croix Animal Welfare Center on your Facebook page or Instagram account. Let’s make this event go viral!

The St. Croix Animal Welfare Center sends a huge thank you to the sponsors and donors of the event: Rick and Debbie Louden, The Mark and Carol Zemmel Fund for the Human Animal Connection, VIYA, Virgin Islands Source, JKC Communications, Caledonia Communication, EMJ Videography, Carambola Zipline, Diane K. Burns Group Real Estate, J.
