Tourists Injured in Vehicle Collision on St. Thomas

Two tourists were injured Wednesday when a vehicle struck them while they were crossing William G. Lewis Lane near the Lucinda Millin Homes on St. Thomas. The collision occurred at approximately 1:42 p.m., the Virgin Islands Police Department reported.

The individuals, a man, and a woman were using the crosswalk when they observed traffic stopping in all directions. Believing it was safe, they proceeded to cross. A white 2023 Toyota Prius traveling west to east on De Beltjen Road turned left on a red light without stopping and hit the pedestrians, the police report stated.

The impact caused both individuals to be thrown into the air. They were transported to the Roy Lester Schneider Regional Medical Center for treatment. The male victim suffered abrasions on his elbows and right shoulder as well as neck pain. The female victim sustained a hairline fracture to her right hip, abrasions on her face and arm, and an injury to her left palm. Both were treated and later released, the report stated.
