Police Investigating Sunny Isle Shooting

Multiple gunshots were reported on Tuesday afternoon in Sunny Isle on St. Croix, the V.I. Police Department announced.

According to police, the 911 Emergency Call Center received several calls reporting the gunshots at approximately 4:18 p.m. near the food court parking area. The suspects fled the scene by vehicle. No injuries have been reported, but two vehicles were damaged during the incident.

The case is being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Bureau. Anyone with information is urged to call 911, the CIB tip line at 340-778-4950 or Crime Stoppers USVI at 800-222-8477.

The incident was at least the third shooting in the territory in as many days. On Saturday, the territory recorded its first homicide of the year when officers responded to reports of a shooting in the area of Hill Crest Road in Estate Bovoni on St. Thomas. Jahkeem Joseph, 25, was killed.

The following night, two police officers were shot and injured while responding to a domestic violence incident. The suspect, 32-year-old Ke’Jah Andreas, was shot and killed.
