Colombian Smuggler To Be Deported After Prison Sentence

William Giraldo Cabanzo, 59, a Colombian national, was sentenced by Chief District Judge Robert A. Molloy to six months in prison after pleading guilty to Conspiracy to Bring Aliens to the United States. Following his incarceration, he will be deported, United States Attorney Delia L. Smith announced.

Cabanzo pleaded guilty to conspiracy to bring aliens into the U.S. Court documents show he used fraudulent travel documents to facilitate the family’s journey from Venezuela to the British Virgin Islands, then St. John, and finally St. Thomas. Law enforcement discovered their illegal entry. Cabanzo, previously deported from the U.S. in 2021, will be returned to Colombia upon completing his sentence.
