Mechanical Issue Knocks Cancryn Pump Station Offline

The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority informs the community that the Cancryn Pump Station is currently offline due to mechanical issues, which may lead to sewer system issues in the downtown area, potentially causing manhole overflow.
Motorists and pedestrians are advised to be cautious, as sewage runoff may contain contaminants or pollutants that are harmful to human health. Residents should avoid areas with sewage water runoff including gutters, puddles, manholes, and drainage basins, or any locations that appear discolored or emit foul odors.
The VIWMA is diligently working to complete the necessary repairs. We understand the inconvenience this may cause and rely on your cooperation as we resolve this matter.
