Man Shot in Head on St. Croix, Airlifted to Mainland for Treatment

A man was airlifted off St. Croix Sunday after he was shot in the head, the V.I. Police Department reported.

On Sunday, the 911 Emergency Call Center received a notification from ShotSpotter indicating one round fired in the vicinity of West Lane, Christiansted, in the vicinity of the Watergut Shanty. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the head, according to the police report.

The victim was transported to Juan F. Luis Hospital for treatment. Due to the severity of his injuries, he will be airlifted to the mainland for further medical care, the police report stated.
