Mavis V. Samuel Dies at 95

Mavis V. Samuel

Mavis V. Samuel was born on May 27, 1929, and died on Sept. 9, at the age of 95.

Mavis is survived by her children: Corbet Charleswell (son), Michelle “Shelly” Samuel (daughter) and Cecelia “Celia” George (daughter); son-in-law, Bradley Charleswell; and grandchildren: Akiela Martin-Greene, Kishma David, Rochelle Charleswell, Jamar Charleswell, Rockly Charleswell, Chayne Charleswell and Lashae Brown.

She is also survived by great-grandchildren: Ajera Ottley, Raโ€™Kayla Greene, Amarie Greene and Roโ€™mel Greene; a host of nieces starting with Coreen Samuel, Doris Samuel-Roger, Beryl Samuel-Larsen, Patricia Samuel, Jacqueline Callwood-Cordero and Jennifer Callwood; nephews: Dennis Samuel Sr, Bertrand Samuel, Byron Samuel and Lucien โ€œJambie/Posoโ€ Jr.; great-nieces and great-nephews too numerous to mention.

Mavis was preceded in death by her brothers: Lucien Samuel and Leslie โ€œSamโ€ Samuel; sister, Leoniece Samuel; uncle, Retired Colonel Axel Henri Sr., Axel Henri Jr.; Erica Henri and Anita Henri with a special mention to her cousin, Oscar “Chapito” Rollings II.

The viewing will be held at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 2, at All Saints Cathedral on Garden Street. Her Interment will be at Cemetery No. 1. Tributes can be emailed to toย Mavissamueltributes@gmail.com
