Leander Smith

Leander Smith died on July 23. He was 80 years old.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Cynthia Archibald; father, Henry Smith Sr.; and son, Leander Smith Jr.

He is survived by his daughter, Cherylyn Joseph; sons: Alex Smith Horn and Christopher Smith; grandchildren: Leander Smith III, Tyโ€™Ron Gumbs, Jaiden Joseph, Austin Joseph, Naโ€™Shika Smith, Nailoni Morgan, Laila Morgan, Saana H. Horn and Kiera James; great-granddaughter, Shekaisha Wenner; and sisters: Julia Garcia, Rufina Smith, Edelta Phillips-Byron, Eleanor Smith and Edna Smith.

He is also survived by brothers: Louis Smith, Wilfred Smith, Benneth Smith, Iba Phillips, Tyrone and Cyril Phillips, Aubrey Richards; Aunts: Inez Williams, Miriah Samuel and Edna Archibald; daughter-in-law, Tasha Smith; son-in-law, Joseph; brothers-in-law: Delroy Byron Jr., Celestino Helder and Leona Henry Smith; and sisters-in-law: Jacqueline Phill, Janet Phillips, Desiree Phillips, Linda Phillips and Rhonda Smith.

More survivors include special friends: Norman Francis, Richard Cornelius, Robert Joseph, Vaughn Hendricks, Rubio Lang, George Knight, Otis Johannes, Desire Charles, Sylvia Sajous, Roy Charles and family, Paulette โ€œPGโ€ Gordon and family and Hubert Acoy; special cousins: Laverne E. Robles,ย  Brenda Plaskett and family, Gloria, Clifford and Marilyn Joseph and family, Renne, Mario, Chantelle, Dwayne and Jenee Robles, Yolanda Robles, Shermona Robles, Donald Robles III, Vilma Gill-Johnson, Glenice, Sharon, Patrice, Raymond, Lyndell, Wayne Williams, Kenneth Jackson, Lauralie Knight and family, and Offley โ€œShamaโ€ Smith.

Other survivors include relatives and friends: Gerard Luz James and family, the Gill, Edney, Milligan, Petersen, Joseph, Stephens, Thomas, Cassimere, Brewster, Hector, Folkes, Carol Thompson and Smith families of St. John, St. Thomas and Tortola, the Williams family, Benjamin family, Robles family and the Williams family of La Vallee; other friends and family on the Mainland, St. Thomas, St. John, Tortola and the Entire La Vallee community; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

A viewing will take place at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 20, at St. Annโ€™s Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Kingshill Cemetery.
