Open Forum: St. Thomas Senseless: Brewers Bay Murder

It’s been almost two weeks, and as investigators seek the conspirators and perpetrators of the senseless crime of gun violence at the beautiful Brewers Beach on July 8; they cannot give up until the profound immorality of these individuals are exposed for all ayu to see.

The United States Virgin Islands has a gun violence problem. I see no openly active action to mitigate it. In fact, research reported that the V.I. beats ALL fifty (50)states in gun violence. Ayu ain’t shame of these senseless souls amongst ayu?

Accountability

We could stop senseless gun violence Meson! However, we must demand it and not be complacent by it regardless of where we live. We must hold the Virgin Islands government officials accountable for their apparent inaction.

Perhaps there is action behind the scenes but the results just ain’t showing. When individuals can feel comfortable shooting down a man, an Iraq Veteran and a budding Entrepreneur-who was trying to make an honest living. V.I., we have a problem. Shot multiple times in the back of the head, in midday- there is a comfortability that exists on St.Thomas as it relates to gun violence.

The problem of gun violence and gun trafficking in these places has long been neglected by politicians and advocates, according to the Giffords Law Center. The Giffords report sheds light on an epidemic in the USVI. Additionally, the report offered several recommendations on how to address it. Ayu should read it.

Ayu ain’t listening?

Recently, the lieutenant governor talked about unity in response to the former President’s shooting. I believe sir, that your focus is mistakenly misdirected. You recently had at least a half a dozen shootings in your territory, and yet you are promoting unity for the former President who does not care about people who look like us-whereas you should be promoting unity and action against gun violence within your American Paradise- and asking/urging that the senseless gun violence stop. There should be public conversations happening, community response, brainstorming initiatives and multi-prong approaches.

Meen Care

Meen care about how long it takes. Natalee Holloway’s mother, Beth Holloway, waited for almost two decades to secure justice for the senseless murder of her beautiful daughter.

This is the Black version of Beth Holloway.

Meen care waiting a lifetime for justice for Brewers Bay!

Suffering with Hope

…but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame… -Romans 5:3-5
