The Tropical Adventure Group will hold the Virgin Islands Chili Cook-Off from noon to 5 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 4, at Brewers Beach, St Thomas. This popular culinary competition promises to be a day of fun, flavor and fiery competition as chili enthusiasts from across the islands showcase their best recipes.

The 2024 VI Chili Cook-Off marks the first event of its kind since 2019, reigniting a tradition that has long been a highlight of the summer on St. Thomas. This year’s Cook-off is expected to draw a large crowd, eager to taste a variety of chili styles and enjoy a festive atmosphere on the beautiful shores of Brewers Bay.

“We are thrilled to bring the Chili Cook-Off to St. Thomas,” said Heath George, even coordinator. “Previous Chili Cook-Offs held at Brewers have always been about community, creativity and, of course, great food, and this new event looks to build on that legacy. We can’t wait to see what our contestants cook up this year and to welcome everyone to Brewers Bay for a day of family-friendly fun.”

The event will feature a chili tasting competition, live music, local vendors and activities for all ages. Contestants will compete in various categories, including Best Traditional Chili, Best Vegetarian Chili, and the coveted People’s Choice Award. For 2024, a separate salsa and Bring Your Best competition will be held to decide which restaurant has the best appetizer on the island.

Attendees will have the opportunity to sample the diverse chili offerings and vote for their favorites. Cash and experience prizes will be awarded to competition winners.
