Michael David Frederick Dies

Michael David Frederick

Our beloved brother, Michael David Frederick, 59, of Port Clinton, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 15, at his residence on St. Thomas, USVI.
Mike was born Feb. 24, 1965, in Port Clinton, Ohio, to James and Ann (Rounds) Frederick. He graduated from Port Clinton High School and Bowling Green State University. After working in Toledo for a while, he eventually moved to St. Thomas where he continued his career as a graphic designer, mainly in advertising, and started his own company.

Mike was an avid fisherman whether it be on Lake Erie or in the USVI and BVI.  He also loved to go deer hunting every fall with some very close friends in Pennsylvania, although mostly for comradery. He loved his family and friends very much, and we loved him very much. So generous, creative, humorous and smart, he was one of a kind.  He always accepted people for who they are, and we learned from him.

Mike is survived by his sister and brother-in-law: Diane and Kraig Klopfenstein, who reside in Urbandale, Iowa; two brothers from Port Clinton: Steve (Lenore) and Mark (Marci); three nephews: Patrick (Andrea), Alex (Ashley) and Jake (Catherina) Klopfenstein; aunts, uncles and many cousins.  He is also survived by his longtime companion, Laurie DeMeyer.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Jim and Ann Frederick.

A Christian Burial Service is being held in Ohio. A Celebration of Life will occur in Ohio and St. Thomas at a future date.
