Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. nominated the Honorable Ernest E. Morris Jr. for the position of Superior Court Judge of the Virgin Islands, Government House announced.
Magistrate Morris is a native of St. Croix and is known as a respected figure in the
legal community and is celebrated for his deep commitment to justice and extensive legal expertise, according to the press release.
Educated at Yale University and Howard University School of Law, Morris has demonstrated academic excellence and professional distinction throughout his career. He has served in various capacities within the legal system, including as a judicial law clerk, president of the Virgin Islands Bar Association, and, most recently, as a magistrate judge. His participation in the Master of Judicial Studies Program at the University of Nevada further exemplifies his dedication to continuous learning and judicial excellence, the press release stated.
Beyond his legal accomplishments, Morris has actively contributed to the cultural and social life of the Virgin Islands. His involvement with the Junior Statesmen Summer School and the ‘We Deh Yah’ Cultural Dancers highlights his commitment to nurturing community ties and preserving the rich cultural heritage of our islands, the release stated.
“Magistrate Morris’s profound understanding of our legal system, combined with his community engagement, makes him an ideal candidate for Superior Court Judge,” said Bryan. “His nomination is a testament to our administration’s commitment to enhancing the judiciary with individuals who are not only highly qualified but also deeply connected to the values and needs of our community.”
