On Jan. 28, Leonora D. Bell of Silver Spring, Md., passed away after a brief illness at 87.  (June 12, 1935 — January 28, 2024)

She was the beloved wife of the late Edward V. Bell; devoted mother of Lori Commins, Lisa Haley and Michael Bell (predeceased); loving sister of Lorna Dorsett, Laverne Joseph, Theodore (Ted) Wells, Lloyd Wells, and Allen Wells; cherished grandmother of Leanna Commins, Tahir Bell, Jerhan Stephens, Brandon Haley, Michael Bell Jr. (Mikey) and Thalia Bell.

She is also survived by sons-in-law, William Commins and Derek Haley; stepsons: Donald Bell, Edward Bell Jr., Louis Bell; and her many nieces and nephews.

Born in the Dominican Republic and raised on St. Thomas, USVI, Leonora touched everyone with her warmth, humor and loving heart. Her impact reached far beyond her immediate family and enriched the lives of those she met throughout the years.

A celebration of her life will occur at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to organizations that focus on Alzheimer’s disease.
