Angela Rosa Rosinda Schmidt Dies at 82

Angela Rosa Rosinda Schmidt

Angela Rosa Rosinda Schmidt, also known as “Aya” or “Gella,” in Curacao of Estate Humbug died on Jan. 17. She was 82 years old.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin E. Schmidt; mother, Marcelina Kerkeboom; father, Felix Rosinda; sisters: Frida Rosinda-Neuman, Ludwina Rosinda-Pieter and Etna Rosinda; brother, Lucio Rosinda; brothers-in-law: Daniel Schmidt, Leonicio Schmidt and Hubert Schmidt; and sisters-in-law: Piola Cornett, Linda Cornett, Melva Cornett-McBride and Maritza Rosinda.

She is survived by her daughters: Charline C. A. Schmidt, Charléne H. J. Schmidt and Charlina M. C. Schmidt-Martin; son, Calvin G. A. Schmidt; grandchildren: Vernon Marquis Jr., Chantal Marquis-Cohen, Chanel Welsh, Melani Dickenson, Mahli Dickenson, Me’shea Dickenson, Neeshana Martin, Naya Martin, Kalima Schmidt-Williams and Kimaya Schmidt; great-grandchildren: Caden Cohen, Caliya Cohen, Calay Cohen, Nataysia Marquis, Cylus Marquis, Veronica Marquis, Ashton Smith, Ky’ale Langley, Makayli Ortiz, Markel Ortiz, Mayken Ortiz, Brynn Dowing, Kalina Williams, Kanice Williams, Randy Williams and Kalila Williams;

She is also survived by sister, Vera Rosinda; brother, Harold Rosinda; nieces/nephews and great nieces/great nephews: who are too numerous to mention from the Rosinda family, Neuman family, Pieter family, Balentien family, Zoetrum family, Nahr family, Margareta family, Koeiman family, Zink family, Schmidt family, Cornett family, Berkel family, Habat family and Murray family; son-in-law, Karl Martin; brothers-in-law: Basil Schmidt, Paul Schmidt, Billy Schmidt, Willy Schmidt, Newton Schmidt, Pedrito Cornett, Fernando Cornett, Carol Cornett, Willy Cornett and Elias Pieter;

Other survivors include sisters-in-law: Muñeca Cornett, Damaris Cornett and Tryphean St. John-Cornett; special friends: Brown family, Edward family, Joseph family, Duinkerk family, Arrindel family, Merced family, Richardson family, McFarlane family, Defour family, Illis family and Fredericksen family;  as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

A viewing will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 1, at James Memorial Funeral Home.

A second viewing will be held at 9 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 2, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Barrenspot. Interment will take place at Kingshill Cemetery.
