Dr. Thelma V. Walters Dies

We announce the passing of Dr. Thelma V. Walters of Conyers, Georgia, who died peacefully surrounded by her family on June 4, 2026.

She was born on October 6, 1942, to Christopher Walters and Florendeen Lee Walters of St. Catherine, Jamaica, West Indies. She leaves to cherish her memory her sister-in-law, Merle Walters. Her adopted daughters: Carmen Roberts, Michelle Walters-Spencer, Rev. Dr. Jacinth M. Caines, Keri Reid, and Wendy Kedrick, leaving a legacy of love and a wealth of knowledge, leadership, commitment, and Integrity. To know her was to embody her spirit of tenacity, generosity, as well as a spirit of Excellence.

She was preceded in death by her father, Christopher Walters. Mother, Florendeen Lee Walters; brothers: Parkland, Chico, and Ishmael Walters; Celestine (Gordon) Walters; and recently her brother, Bishop Alphonso Walters. Adopted mother: Zeather A. Armstrong. She is survived by her grandchildren: Michael, Tiffany, Felicia Blackwell, Maya Edwards, Crystal, and Kraig. Kandice and Kareem Caines. Adopted sisters: Mary Langley-Edwards, Charlene Crumpp. Son-in-law: Rev. Henry Caines. Nieces: AnnMarie Walters, Nicole’s Shields. Barbara Collins. Angela Montgomery. Norma Walters, Maria Joy Edwards. Grand Nieces: Ancolette Walters, Latrisha Jackson, Sierra Jackson, Nikola Dawson, and Samaya Walters. Nephews: Alphonso M. Walters, Kenneth Shields, Shane Walters, Ethan Walters, Jamaal Shields, Terry Taie Leverett, Charles Edward, John Walters, and Dennis Walters. Cousins: George Walters, Blossom Lee, Hyacinth Sanderson, and Cassilda Smith. Godson: Freddy Brown, Daron and David Nicholas Best Friend: Rev. Admensa Jackson – Spencer, Charles Callwood and Easton David Close Friends: Apostle Rev. Agnola Martin, Bishops Earl Harrison, Wingrove Maynard and Glenvilke Thompson, William Lee Jr. Anita Howell, Pastor George and Loretta Silcott, Angela Beek Edward’s, Winston and Shirley Chambers, The Sutherlands, Dr. Blance Bello and the Savan/ New Testament Church of God, J. Anton Healing Center and Deeper Life Ministries. J. Antonio Jarvis School. Caregivers: Erica and Lorine, and Sis Beverly Granville. Hospice: Bridgewater Home Care and Bright Moor staff and nurses. Many other friends, family, and loved ones.

With heartfelt love and celebration, we honor the life and legacy of Dr Thelma V. Walters, our cherished friend and family member, a devoted mother, sister, and aunt, who gained her wings on June 4th, 2026.

A memorial service will be held in her honor on the 29th day of August at 10:00 am at the New Testament Church of God (Mount Zion Church of God), 394 A-1 Annas Retreat, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. 00802

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Scot Ward’s Green Meadow Chapel with Bishop William Lee officiating; interment will follow at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday, June 26, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Condolences may be submitted online at www.scotward.com.
