Photo Focus: J’ouvert Morning 2024 Turns Up the Heat in Frederiksted

If you were willing to wake up at 5:00 a.m. on Thursday and head to Frederiksted, you were able to witness J’ouvert Morning 2024 turn up the heat. Thousands of people came out to witness the early morning party through the streets of Frederiksted town.

While some participants joined J’ouvert Troupes and wore their troupes’ shirts and specific attire, others dressed in costumes, shorts, cut-up jeans, and other creative clothing traditionally worn during J’ouvert.

If you attend J’ouvert, there is no need to participate in the actual tramping down the road. Some attendees who woke up early and headed to Frederiksted stood at the side of the road to witness the excitement that the morning brings to Festival each year.

Angelica Torres, who mentioned this is her third J’ouvert, said, “I woke up extremely early to be able to see the J’ouvert, and it did not disappoint.”

The crowd was so packed it was almost difficult to move from side to side, but somehow, most were able to break out into dance behind their favorite DJ or band.
