A St. Thomas man was killed in a shooting Sunday night in downtown Charlotte Amalie, the V.I. Police Department reported on Tuesday morning.
Police were alerted to the crime just after 11:30 p.m. Sunday when a resident called 911 to report multiple shots being fired on Bjerge Gade on St. Thomas, according to the VIPD report. Shortly after, another person called 911 to say a man had suffered several gunshot wounds, it said.
Arriving at the scene, police found an unresponsive man who had been shot multiple times, the report stated. Emergency Medical Technicians could not find any signs of life, it said.
On Monday, the victim was identified by next of kin as Michael Ramos De La Cruz, 32. His death is the 19th homicide on St. Thomas this year, and the 34th for the territory, according to the Source Homicide List.* Fifteen people have been killed on St. Croix.
