Wanted St. Thomas Man Arrested on Firearm Charge

The execution of a search warrant for an apartment building led to the arrest of a man who was wanted on St. Thomas, the V.I. Police Department reported.

On Wednesday, April 5, an investigation was launched after it was reported via ShotSpotter that numerous shots were constantly being fired in the Altona and Welgunst area. During the investigation, Jeavon Francis was identified as the person of interest in reference to the shots being fired. A wanted poster was circulated throughout various media outlets for Francis, according to the police report.

On Wednesday, the Criminal Intelligence Unit, along with the Criminal Investigation Bureau and the Special Operations Bureau, executed a search warrant in the area of Building 16 in the Lovenlund Apartments. Upon making contact with the target apartment, contact was made with Francis, who was taken into custody and arrested, the police report stated.

22-year-old Francis was charged with illegal discharge of a firearm. Bail was set at $50,000 for Francis and he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections after being unable to post bail, police said.
