Ocean Point Selects 2022 Scholarship Recipients; Scholarships Hit Milestone of 100 Students

Ocean Point Terminals (Ocean Point or Company), announced today that 14 2022 USVI high school graduates were awarded scholarships totaling $22,000 for the 2022-2023 school year in keeping with the Company’s strong commitment to education. This year is notable because

the Company celebrates a significant milestone for its scholarship program. The 14 students receiving awards this year brings the total number of scholarship recipients to 100 since the program’s inception in 2017.

This year’s scholarship recipients are:

Alexandra Bhola who will attend the University of Pennsylvania

Sakari Clendenin who will attend Hofstra University

Tianna Davis who will attend Bradley University

Michael Dizon-Bumann who will attend Cornell University

Jada Joseph who will attend Florida A&M University

Ari-El Joshua who will attend Elizabeth City State University

Makari Matthew who will attend Baylor University

Rohan Nagi who will attend the University of San Diego

Makeda Nash who will attend the University of South Florida

Yaira Ortiz who will attend the University of Miami

Nancy Parilla who will attend Nova Southeastern University

Michele Pemberton who will attend Howard University

Shaudae Richardson who will attend Florida International University

Jamyka Smith who will attend Syracuse University.

Recipients are selected based on their scholastic record and financial need compared to other applicants.  To retain the scholarships, which are renewed annually every four years, the students are required to maintain good academic standing at an accredited U.S. college or university.

Ocean Point’s Chief Operating Officer Jeff Charles expressed his congratulations to this year’s recipients. “Every year, we award scholarships to students who demonstrate academic excellence throughout their educational career, and this year is no exception,” said Charles.

“As an organization, we are committed to supporting Virgin Islands students through their post-secondary education, and I am incredibly proud of this year’s recipients who have shown their resilience by adapting to and exceling under the extraordinary circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Charles.

Ocean Point will award more than $100,000 in scholarships to new and existing scholarship recipients for the 2022-2023 school year, and it has awarded almost $600,000 since the program’s inception.
