Eileen Iona Fernal Whyte Dies at 91

Eileen Iona Fernal Whyte

Eileen Iona Fernal Whyte of Estate Grove Place died on Jan. 30. She was 91 years old.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Beryl Samuel; brother, Clement Whyte; sister, Irose Gordon; and grandchildren: Daudi “Bwani” Bakar Tishawn Samuel and Jinika Nisbitt.

She is survived by her sons: Clifford Warner, Clement “Daudi” Samuel, Vernon “Junie” Edwards, Ulric Edwards and St. Clair Byam; daughter, JudyAnne Ross-Abdur-rasheed; daughters-in-law: Nadine “Sawe” Samuel, Daisy Byam and Elaine Warner; son-in-law, Zakee Abdur-rasheed; brothers: Samuel Whyte and Calvin Whyte; sister, Eunice Whyte-Thomas; nieces and nephews: Junare Jr. “Junie,” Freeston, Beverly “Muffet,” Cherrilyn “Cherrico,” Alfred “Chesterfield” and Alexton Gordon, Jenica Whyte-Edwards and Balicia Whyte, Nickie, Nolan, Nathalie, Nickbert Thomas and Jabari Charles, and Carrieshau, Denesha and Zoie Whyte; and great nieces and great nephews: Darien Roberts, Junare II, Cherrique Hughes, Thio, Tesson, Chessia, Hasani, Gerrard, Shyloh, Zyon, Junare III and Dylan Gordon, Sophie and Nathan Edwards, Yohanze Horsford, Isiah Edwards, Nickiyah and Nickayla Thomas.

She is also survived by grandchildren: Ruchella, Nakia, Najaray Samuel-Roberts, Dauda “Loma” Samuel-Benjamin, Aisha Samuel-Jules, Danisha Samuel-Santos, and Kimoi Samuel, Danica, Jeniqua and Deniqua Byam, Jacklyn Edwards, Wayne, Terrance, Teaddy, Calvin, Wendy, Clifford Jr., Clifton, Cody and Shakira Warner, Jenee’ Roberts and Jeleayah Brewster; and great-grandchildren: Shandilise, Shoya and Shareem Hernandez, Shamari Ventura, Shadirah, Shaneil and Shaliyah Barnes, Shyanne Lopez, Kelsey and Kiyarra Sealey, Kyanna, David “Omari,” Nykara Gonzalez and Amyah Robert; Shiquanda, Shiquan, Shiniqua, Shiquira and Shyaira Gomez, Jayden and Ajayda Benjamin, Dyarra and Dylisha Peter, Seanna Santos, Malachi and Makiem Samuel, Jahniyah, Jahneim and Jahdeja Samuel, Ameera Hutchinson, Isiah Anselm, Marlee Warner, Trinity, Jaelah, Kyleigh and Jahvonni Warner, Evelien Warner, Zoe Warner and Quintin Warner.

Other survivors include great-great-grandchildren: Ricoy Donelly, Alyanna, Ayva and Kaylan Felix, Shalaysia, Analeyah and Jisael Melendez, Jaydani Hernandez, Myka and Malik Ventura, Sha’laya and Lemari Hernandez, Dominic Scherwinski, Avalyse Bennett, Amoura Menzies, Khairi, Kaylise and Kymiah Gonzalez and Zavion Jacobs; as well as other family members and friends too numerous to mention.

A viewing will take place at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 23, at St. Paul’s Anglican Church. Interment will follow at Kingshill Cemetery.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all attendees must wear a mask and adhere to social distancing guidelines.
