Two Treated for Injuries in STX Shooting

Two people were treated for gunshot wounds Saturday night after an incident at the Harbor View Apartments in Christiansted, the V.I. Police Department reported.

In a news release issued on Monday, police said that at about 11:54 p.m. Saturday the 911 emergency call center notified officers of an apparent shooting incident in the vicinity of the Harbor View Apartments. When officers arrived at the scene, they were informed of the incident and that the victims had been transported to the hospital.

During an interview at the hospital, a male and a female victim told police that someone wearing a dark hoodie and black face mask and riding in a dark sedan fired shots at their vehicle. The victims said they left the area and traveled to the John F. Kennedy Terrace housing community for assistance, and the suspect’s vehicle fled in the Golden Rock area.

VIPD said the male victim received gunshot injuries to his left arm and left leg. The female victim received a gunshot wound to the upper back. Three other occupants of the vehicle were not injured. Police did not release the names of the victims, in accordance with department policy.

Detectives urged anyone with information about this incident to contact them by calling 911, the Crime Tip Line at 340-778-4950 or the anonymous tip services, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477 (1-800-222-TIPS).
