Lindbergh Bay Man Charged with Brandishing Unlicensed Firearm

A St. Thomas man, 46-year-old Laron Murrain of Lindbergh Bay, was arrested Saturday and charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and brandishing or exhibiting a firearm.

According to the V.I. Police Department, the arrest took place at 9:05 a.m. on Dec. 5.

Police said the preliminary investigation revealed Murrain pointed a firearm at a man during a verbal altercation at a store in Lindbergh Bay on Nov. 28.

Bail for Murrain was set at $50,000. Unable to post bail, he was turned over to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending his advice of rights hearing.

Police urged anyone with additional information regarding this incident to contact police by calling 911, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-774-2211 extension 5610, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477 (1-800-222-TIPS). Tips which result in the resolution of a case can qualify the caller for an anonymous cash reward.
