Woman Injured by Gunshot on Veterans Drive

A woman was injured Sunday when she was struck by a gunshot while driving on Veterans Drive in Charlotte Amalie.

According to the V.I. Police Department, at about 6:53 p.m. Aug. 2, police were dispatched to Schneider Regional Medical Center in reference to a gunshot victim.

The victim, whose name was not released in accordance with department policy, reported she heard shots being fired as she traveled eastward in her vehicle on Veterans Drive near the Burger Max Restaurant. The victim told officers she did not see who fired the shots but heard what sounded like a vehicle speed away from the area.

Immediately after, the victim realized she had been shot and was transported to the hospital via private vehicle. As of Tuesday evening, the victim was listed in stable condition.

VIPD is urging anyone with information about this incident to call 911, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-774-2211 ext. 5579 or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
