The victim was identified by family members as 29-year-old Khamal DeSilvia.
It was the 16th homicide on St. Thomas since the beginning of the year, the 28th in the territory, according to the Source homicide list.*
According to police, at around 11:16 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, the 911 emergency call center received a report of shots fired in Smith Bay, in the vicinity of the Pavilions and Pools Hotel.
At the scene, officers found a Black male, identified as DeSilvia, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds about his body. Emergency medical technicians were notified and traveled to the scene. DeSilvia was transported by ambulance to Schneider Regional Medical Center for treatment, however, he subsequently succumbed to his injuries.
