Police Charge Man with Firearm Offenses

Officers of the V.I. Police Department’s Special Operations Bureau on Saturday arrested 29-year-old Kewasi James of Estate Mariendahl, charging him with possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of a firearm within 1,000 feet of a school.

According to police, during a traffic stop at roughly 5:05 p.m. July 11, an unlicensed firearm was found in the vehicle driven by James on Wilmoth Rhymer Highway.

Bail for James was set at $25,000. Unable to post bail, James was turned over to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending his advice of rights hearing.
