Two Suffer Gunshot Wounds in Smith Bay

Two men were injured Saturday when they were struck by gunfire in Smith Bay, the V.I. Police Department reported.

According to police. at 9:36 p.m. Saturday the 911 emergency call center received a report of shots fired in Smith Bay. At the scene, officers found several spent casings near the Picasso Coffee shop on Smith Bay Road. The 911 dispatcher notified officers of two male gunshot wound victims at the Schneider Regional Medical Center.

The two victims, whose names were not released, reported that they were driving from Smith Bay when they were shot by an unknown gunman. They drove themselves to the hospital for treatment.

Police urged anyone with information regarding this crime to call 911, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-774-2211 extension 5557, or anonymously to Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-8477. Tips to Crimestoppers that result in the policer resolving a case can qualify the caller for an anonymous reward.
