Relatives and friends of Edwina B. Thompson, affectionately known as ” Mommy,” “Sal,” “Heavy” or “Biggie,” are advised of her death on March 16. She died peacefully at the age of 76 in her residence at Anna’s Retreat.
A viewing will be held from 9-11 a.m. followed by a service at 11 a.m., Friday, April 3, at Turnbull’s Funeral Home. Interment will be at Western Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Leonard “Jim” Thompson; daughters: Arlene “Shirley-Ann” Johnson and Jozette Gumbs; grandchildren: Adrian and Tisha “Keisha” Johnson, J’coy, Jayden and Jazmyn Gumbs; and great-grandchildren: Khyrian Johnson, Ti’mouri, Ti’monea and Ti’mya Maduro.
She is also survived by sisters: Roberta Galloway, Darelle, Lorena and Blondelle Williams of Antigua, and Juliette Ford of Texas; brothers: Meryl, Clifton, and Telbert Williams of Antigua, and Rudolph Solomon of N.Y.; sons-in-law: Ian Johnson and Ivan Gumbs; special friends: Sheila Jean, Carol Raymo, Icilma Harrigan and Bernadine Todman; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends too numerous to mention.
