STT Man Sentenced for Distributing Marijuana

Thomas Olive, II, 29, was sentenced Thursday in District Court on St. Thomas on his conviction of possessing marijuana with intent to distribute, U.S. Attorney Gretchen C.F. Shappert announced.

According to Shappert’s news release, evidence at Olive’s trial established that on Dec. 11, 2018, he was the driver of a vehicle wth heavily tinted windows travelling on Main Street on St. Thomas. Officers of the Virgin Islands Police Department ordered Olive out of the vehicle and discovered four pounds of marijuana packaged for distribution, the police report shows. VIPD also discovered $6,225 in cash and an unlicensed Glock firearm.

District Court Judge Curtis V. Gomez sentenced Olive to four months incarceration and six months home confinement. Gomez also sentenced Olive to three years supervised release with 300 hours of community service. As part of his sentence Olive forfeits $6,225 in cash and was ordered to pay a $4,000 fine.

This case was investigated by the Virgin Islands Police Department and the FBI. It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Everard E. Potter.
