Crime Stoppers USVI on Wednesday announced changes to its procedures and services in the face of the spreading novel coronavirus.
The deadline for claiming cash rewards will be extended from six months to eight months, allowing tipsters more time to make necessary arrangements if needed. Crime Stoppers USVI will continue monitoring the 24-hour anonymous tip line and online service in wake of these difficult times. The federal Department of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is requesting information regarding the April 30, 2019, early morning fire at the Stop and Save Food Market as well as the May 8 fire at St. Croix Trading in the Mount Welcome area of Christiansted. Both fires have been determined to have been intentionally set. Both businesses additionally reported the theft of cash and other items of value.
Evidence collected from the Stop and Save Food Market fire scene indicates that two or more individuals were involved and likely sustained light to severe burns from setting the fires.
