A St. Thomas man was injured by a gunshot to the side of his face when he investigated a noise coming from a residence above his own, the V.I. Police Department reported.
According to police, at about 1:53 a.m. Thursday, 911 dispatched officers to an Estate Peterborg residence in response to a report of shots being fired. Detectives along with the crime scene technicians from the Criminal Investigation Bureau were notified and traveled to the location.
At the scene, the victim told the police he was inside his residence and heard a banging sound coming from the upstairs portion of the residence. The victim further stated he went upstairs to check on the noise and several shots were fired, injuring the left side of his face.
