V.I. Charter Association, DPNR, CZM Plan to Install 170 Moorings

Crown Bay Marina moorings, St. Thomas

The Virgin Islands Professional Charter Association (VIPCA) will be partnering with the Department of Planning and Natural Resources, Division of Coastal Zone Management (CZM) to install 170 moorings in the bays of the U.S. Virgin Islands. The moorings will reduce anchoring near ecologically important coral reefs as well as organize the bays to appeal for transient vessels.

The project will be located on all three islands: St. Thomas, St. John and St. Croix. The public will be asked to contribute site location proposals. Project information is available for review at The Department of Planning and Natural Resources in the St. Thomas Library.

If an individual has any information regarding potential impacts to historic properties or environmental resources, including wetlands or floodplains associated with this proposed project, please provide it in writing to:
Regional Environmental Officer
Economic Development Administration
900 Market Street, Room 602
Philadelphia, PA 19107
