Walter Nathaniel Francis Dies at 88

Walter Nathaniel Francis

Walter Nathaniel Francis, also known as “Papa,” of Estate Sunny Acres died on Sept. 13. He was 88 years old.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Florence Francis; father, Earnest Stokes; daughter, Florence Francis; grandchildren: Aisha Francis, Troy Francis and Kenisha Francis; sisters: Ena Stokes and Suzan Francis; and brothers: Ham Stokes, Arther Stokes, Arther Stokes and Earnest Stokes.

He is survived by his daughters: Ionie Francis, Muriel Francis and Gwenda Nisbett-Francis; sons: Ezekiel Francis, Stanley Francis, Maurice Francis, Elroy Francis and Steve Francis; and grandchildren: James Harvey, Tyrone Francis, Leonora Francis, Allen Brewley, Ayinde Augustus, Afiya Augustus, Nagala Nisbett, Levaughn Nisbett, Asim Francis, Tamisha Francis, Demeka Francis, Pearl Monique, Imar Francis, Elroy Francis Jr., Khadeem Francis, Delroy Francis, Donnell Francis, Matthew Francis, Anthony Mena, Z’Armani Emmanuel, Elijah Francis, Jordon Francis and Allisa Francis.

He is also survived by 31 great-grandchildren; sister, Georgina Connor; brother, Francisco Francis; special friends: George “Brother John” Martin, Olivia Joseph, Ira Hobsin, Dolly Ramsingh and Glenworth Renalds and Ebenezer Methodist Church Congregation School No. 13; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

The viewing will be held at 9 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 27, at Ebenezer Methodist Church, Estate Richmond. Interment will be at Christiansted Cemetery.
