New Parking Garage to Open at Marine Terminal in Red Hook

Urman V. Fredericks Marine Terminal at Red Hook

On Monday, July 22, the Virgin Islands Port Authority will fully open its new two-story parking garage at the Urman V. Fredericks Marine Terminal in Red Hook on St. Thomas. The garage will be open daily at 5:30 a.m. until midnight. Parking rates will remain at a flat rate of $10 per day until further notice.

The first floor of the parking garage was opened during July 4th holiday. The Port Authority had closed the garage temporarily to complete minor construction tasks and the painting of the garage. Both floors will be fully accessible on Monday, providing 152 regular parking spaces and six accessible spaces for physically challenged drivers.

The garage was built by Eleven Construction and cost $5.9 million — funded via bond financing attained by the Authority in 2014. The project also included improvements to the drainage in the area. The garage will help to alleviate some of the parking congestion in Red Hook, while providing an affordable means to park on the eastern end of St. Thomas.
