Man Injured by Gunshot in Coki Point Road Area

A man was listed in stable condition Sunday afternoon at the Schneider Regional Medical Center after he was shot shortly after midnight in the area of Coki Point Road, the V.I. Police Department reported.

The victim’s name was not released by officials in pursuance of department policy.

According to police, at about 12:25 a.m. Sunday officers from the Mariel C. Newton Command officers responded to a report of an unknown individual laying on the public roadway in the area of Coki Point Road.

Upon officers’ arrival, they observed an unknown male who sustained a gunshot wound to the area of the lower abdomen.

The victim was then transported to the Schneider Regional Medical Center to seek medical treatment for his gunshot wound.

This case is under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau. Police urged anyone with information about the incident to contact the bureau at 340-774-2211 ext. 5606, the 911 call center, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477 (1-800-222-TIPS.)
