Relatives and friends are advised that Jerry Boler died peacefully on Saturday, March 30, at Schneider Regional Medical Center, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, where he had been admitted for complications from lower edema.
Tributes will be given from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. with a memorial service immediately following on Friday, May 10, at Turnbull’s Funeral Home and Crematory Services. There will be no viewing. The body will be cremated.
Jerry was employed at Commercial Security, but he had worked previously with the University of the Virgin Islands and the U.S. Navy. He was very active with Toastmasters International as a member of Tropical Eloquence Toastmasters Club 4040U. Jerry’s favorite role was the Table Topics Master.
As the Table Topic Master, he would ask several audience members to give an extemporaneous speech of one to two minutes. The challenge was to give a speech that included all the parts of a prepared speech — an introduction, a body and a closing. One of his favorite topics was: “Describe your ideal man or woman.” The answers given by the respondents always generated a lot of conversation.
Thank you to the staff at the Virgin Islands Office of Veterans Affairs for their assistance.
