Jeffrey Cole, 57, of St. Thomas, pleaded guilty in District Court before Judge Curtis V. Gomez, to failing to register as a sex offender, U.S. Attorney Gretchen C.F. Shappert announced Friday.
According to court records, Cole was convicted for voyeurism in Ohio in 2009. He moved to Georgia, where he registered as a sex offender. He then relocated to the Virgin Islands in 2018, and failed to register as required by law.
Under federal law, Cole faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000.
The case was investigated by the U.S. Marshal Service. It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Everard E. Potter.
