VIPD Works with FBI to Arrest Fugitive from Louisiana

Brandel Lynard Berry is in police custody on St. Croix awaiting extradition to Louisiana, where he is a suspect in a robbery.

Berry was arrested Jan. 20 by members of the V.I. Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Bureau in a joint assignment with the FBI.

According to the VIPD, Berry was wanted in connection with a robbery that occurred in Louisiana on Jan. 11. Berry fled the U.S. mainland and traveled to St. Croix, where he was tracked.

The team made contact with Berry and served him with an arrest warrant that had been signed by a judge from the 24th Judicial District of Louisiana, charging him with for first-degree robbery.

The 36-year-old Berry was placed under arrest pursuant to the arrest warrant, police said. He was booked and remanded to the Bureau of Corrections and awaits extradition back to the Louisiana.
