Flooding Causing Territory-Wide Sewer Overflows

Floodwater after Thursday’s rains

Thursday’s torrential rains and flash flooding have caused sewer and storm drain overflows in low-lying areas around the territory, so avoid standing water, the Waste Management Authority advises.

According to WMA, the flow of rain water entering the sewer system may exceed the pumping capacity at a number of pump stations and the sewer system may continue to be impacted after the storm runoff subsides.

Drivers should avoid flooded roadways when possible and people should avoid standing water.

WMA asks residents to report sewer overflows by calling their 24-hour hotline at 844-WMA-USVI. That’s (844) 962-8784.
